Does your brand look like the business you are trying to become?
Most brands are not badly designed. They are designed for the company that existed when the logo was drawn, and nobody has revisited it since the market moved.
Creative that cannot be measured is decoration. Creative that only measures is forgettable.
We sit on the uncomfortable side of both arguments. A brand that wins awards and moves nothing is a failure, and so is a brand built entirely from what tested well last quarter — because the second kind looks exactly like every competitor optimising the same way.
In practice that means the identity work and the performance creative are made by the same team. The concepts that win in paid social feed the brand; the brand keeps the performance work from converging on the industry average.
The commonest brief we get is a request for a logo when the actual problem is that nobody in the business can say what makes them different in one sentence. Design cannot fix that; it can only make it look more expensive. So the work starts with positioning, and occasionally that turns into a commercial conversation rather than a design one.
The second commonest is a brand that tests well and looks like everyone else. That is what happens when every decision is optimised against last quarter's data - each choice is defensible and the sum is invisible. Distinctiveness has to be decided deliberately, because no test will ever ask for it.
What you end up with
A brand that is recognisably yours
Distinctive enough that someone could cover the logo and still know who it is — which is the only test that matters.
Creative that performs
A concept pipeline feeding paid and organic, judged on cost per acquisition rather than on how the review meeting went.
Consistency without a bottleneck
A system your own team can use, so not every social post has to come back to us.
Assets you own outright
Source files, fonts licensed in your name, and full rights to the photography and video.
Is this right for you?
This is for you if
- You can say what makes you different, or are willing to work that out first
- The brand is holding back a business that is otherwise working
- You want a system your team can use, not just a logo
It probably is not if
- You want a rebrand to fix a demand problem — it will not, and we will say so
- The current brand is fine and the real issue is the offer
- You need it signed off by a committee with no named decision maker

How we approach creative
- 01
Find the actual difference
Positioning starts with what is true about you that competitors cannot say. If nothing is, that is a business conversation before it is a design one — and we will have it.
- 02
Build a system, not a logo
Colour, type, layout, photography and voice, defined well enough that someone who has never met us can produce something on-brand next year.
- 03
Apply it where it earns
The site, the ads, the packaging, the premises, the uniforms. A brand exists at the points a customer meets it, not in the guidelines document.
- 04
Test the concepts
Distinct creative arguments, run against each other, with the losers retired. This is the part most brand work skips and most performance work does badly.
- 05
Hand over a system people use
Guidelines nobody opens are guidelines that decay. We hand over templates, components and worked examples so your own team can produce something on-brand without coming back to us for every post.
Questions people ask us
If yours isn’t here, ask us directly — we’ll give you a straight answer, including when the answer is that we’re not the right fit.
Do we need a rebrand or just a refresh?
A refresh updates the execution while keeping the recognition you have already paid for, and suits most businesses whose identity simply looks dated. A full rebrand is warranted when the positioning itself has changed — a new market, a merger, or a name that actively misdescribes what you now sell. Rebranding to fix a marketing problem that is not a brand problem is expensive and rarely works.
How long does a brand identity project take?
Typically six to twelve weeks for strategy, identity and a core design system, with rollout across the site, packaging and premises continuing beyond that. The variable is rarely design time; it is how quickly decisions get made and how many people need to agree.
Who owns the design files and the photography?
You do, on payment, including source files, layered artwork and full usage rights to commissioned photography and video. Fonts are the exception everywhere — those are licensed rather than owned, and we license them in your name so the licence does not sit with an agency you may one day leave.
Can creative really be measured?
Performance creative can be, directly: distinct concepts tested against each other on cost per acquisition. Brand-level work is measured more slowly and less precisely, through prompted recall, branded search volume and the price premium you can hold. Both are real; only one gives you an answer this month.
Do we get the source files and full rights?
Yes, on payment, including layered source artwork and full usage rights to commissioned photography and video, written into the contract. Fonts are the one exception everywhere, since typefaces are licensed rather than owned - we license them in your name so the licence does not sit with an agency you may one day leave.
How do you make sure creative performs and not just looks good?
The same team makes the identity and the performance creative, and the performance work runs as a testing programme: distinct concepts, judged on cost per acquisition, losers retired. That keeps the brand honest. The brand work in turn keeps the performance creative from converging on whatever every competitor is already doing.
